Stacy leads Pioneers past NYU, into Final Four

LEXINGTON — Nearly recording a double-double, senior guard Kennedi Stacy scored 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead number two Transylvania over NYU 79-63 at the Beck Center on Saturday, March 11.

A Magoffin County High School graduate, Stacy is averaging 14.2 points per game for the Pioneers.

Following the win, Transylvania moved to 31-0. The win allowed Transylvania to advance to the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Final Four. Transylvania is headed to its first Final Four.

The Pioneers led at the end of each quarter, edging NYU 18-17 in the opening period.

Managing to extend its lead, Transylvania outscored NYU 21-9 in the second quarter.

The Pioneers led 39-26 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.

Transylvania led 58-47 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

The Pioneers are scheduled to meet Smith College (Northampton, Mass.) in the Final Four in Connecticut on Saturday, March 18.
