SALYERSVILLE – There’s no place like for the Magoffin County Hornets.

Especially in the 2021 high school football season.

Magoffin County is poised to play six home games during the upcoming prep football campaign.

The Hornets’ 2021 schedule includes home games versus Breathitt County, Knott County Central, Floyd Central, Pike County Central, Clay County and Morgan County.

In additional games slated for the 2021 season, Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Prestonsburg, Bellevue, Lawrence County and Belfry.

The Hornets, under the direction of head coach Chris Gamble, showed improvement throughout the shortened 2020 high school football season. Following a loss to perennial state title contender Belfry in the opening round of the Class 3A Playoffs. Magoffin County concluded the 2020 season 3-4. The Hornets notched wins over Betsy Layne, Martin County and Floyd Central in 2020. Determined Magoffin County defeated Floyd Central for a district win during the 2020 high school football season.

Numerous experienced players are poised to return to the field for much-improved Magoffin County.

The Hornets will open preseason practice shortly after the conclusion of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Dead Period.
